Local “alternative facts” blog goes after Austin Allison

Local “alternative facts” blog The Humboldt Consequential (formerly the Humboldt Mirror) has been conducting a fatiguing character assassination campaign against all round “nice guy” Patrick Cleary for quite sometime, accusing him of anything they can conjure up. Now they’ve decided that newly elected Austin Allison must pose some kind of threat to their little neo-con world. In their latest tirade they accuse Austin of be pro Firefighter, OMG! That’s right those hard working, life saving, public safety heroes have somebody looking out for them. It’s got the right completely tweaked. You see, even though the Fire Department is made of very conservative people (just like the Police Dept.) it’s always the left that’s looking out for them, when it comes to pay and benefits. The idea being, the better you pay them the higher the standard you can hold them too.

So good for you Austin. You campaigned on sticking up for the Unions, we whole heartily endorsed you and you soundly defeated Fullerton.

Go for it!

  1. LMAO. As the son of a Fire Chief who retired at 52 years old and 90% of his full pay plus full health benefits that went to my mother when he died at age 55, mind you this was 30 years ago and benefits have only gone up. Lets just keep the police and fire fully staffed and funded they can handle there Union business just fine. Alternative facts blog… look in the mirror, you both wag the dog to fit your agenda.

    • So now it’s 52 and still no citation on what agency he worked for. Another “alternative fact”. Again I will say, “You sir, are a liar”.

Thank you Firefighters. You deserve a decent retirement at the end of your careers. Thank you Austin, for standing up for good pay and benefits to our Public Safety employees.

  2. Classic CalPers members. EPOA sworn hired before 1/1/13 are paid a rate of 3% and can retire at 50. At 52, the person would only have to had worked for 30 years to get 90% pension. The same rates apply to Fire. Thank you to all of them. No lie, just math.

Calpers 3% at 50 formula is less than 30 years old. Maybe you should try reading a little more.
